Systems and Services

NASA and the US Department of Transportation are exploring several research sensors for measuring wake vortices. OptiNav and Microstar Laboratories, as contractors to Titan Corporation, developed a phased array to support the government's wake vortex measurements. The first full deployment took place in September 2003, at a spot about a mile from the threshold of runway 16L at the Denver International Airport. Our technology lets us use consumer-grade electret microphones to build large scale arrays at a cost of about USD$1000 per channel.

Acoustic Imaging combines resources from Microstar Laboratories, Inc., Signal Interface Group, and OptiNav, Inc. We develop custom systems to locate and measure acoustic sources associated with aircraft and other vehicles and machines.

Acoustic phased array experience supplied by Bob Dougherty of OptiNav,
complete mobile acoustic array products supplied by Signal Interface Group,
and filtered data acquisition and system integration supplied by Microstar Laboratories,
